Radio 2's Festival in a Day 2014

On Sunday 14th September Tracey and I went to Hyde Park for Radio 2's Festival in a Day 2014.

Win Hill Peak District Derbyshire

Thursday 11th September and work took me to Sale and Manchester (drove past Man Utd - Old Trafford). I finished my calls around 13:00, so dug out my old map from the boot, and thought Castleton in the Peak District looked good for an afternoon walk. On arriving in Castleton I decided to see if there were any Red grouse around, so I went into the Speedwell cavern gift shop to ask, and was given great directions to Win Hill. I parked up at Twitchill farm and walked up to the heather moor. Sadly no Red grouse only Meadow pipits and a swallow, but great views on this warm sunny day.

Another lunchtime walk around Hurley

Wednesday 10th September and I had another lunchtime walk around Hurley, this time talking the footpath up Prospect hill and through High wood and then past Hall Place (Berkshire college of Agriculture) and back down Honey Lane. Birds seen: Red kite, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Kestrel, Stock dove, woodpigeon, Green woodpecker, Swallow, House martin, Pied wagtail, Robin, Blackbird, Blue tit, Great tit, Nuthatch, Jay, Magpie, Jackdaw, Rook & Goldfinch.

Little owl after work at Moor Green Lakes

After work on Monday 8th September I stopped of at Moor Green Lakes to view the New workings end, to search for the resident Little owl. Birds seen Little grebe, Cormorant, Little egret, Canada goose, Mallard, Tufted duck , Red kite, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Kestrel, Moorhen, Coot, Green sandpiper, Common sandpiper, Black-headed gull, Lesser black-backed gull, Woodpigeon, LITTLE OWL that was low down in an Oak and was joined by a Jay, Swallow, Grey wagtail, Pied wagtail, Robin, Chiffchaff, Long-tailed tit, Great tit, Magpie & Carrion crow.

Gold Valley fishing lakes near Aldershot

Sunday 7th September Tracey and I joined our eldest son Alex at Gold Valley fishing lakes. Tracey & Alex were fishing, I walked round and took photos.

Longham Lakes Dorset

Friday 5th September and after working in Kinson library I made the short drive to Longham lakes for a quick look at lunchtime. I parked up down High Mead Lane next to the horse field. Above on the pylon were Starling, and in with the horses Pied wagtail, Yellow wagtail, WHITE WAGTAIL, Magpie, Jackdaw & Carrion crow. On to the first lake and on here were Great crested grebe, Grey heron, Mute swan, Tufted duck, Coot, Black-headed gull and feeding over a small flock of Sand martin. Adding Little grebe and Herring gull on the 2nd larger lake. In the hedgerow and meadows were Kestel, Lapwing, Woodpigeon, Green Woodpecker, Robin, Great tit, Jay, Rook, Goldfinch and finally Cormorants on a pylon.

Hurley and a lunchtime walk around Robinswood

Thursday 4th September 2014, and I was working at a site in Hurley, so at lunchtime using the roads and footpaths I did a circular walk around Robinswood, seeing the following: Red kite, Buzzard, Kestrel, Woodpigeon, Green woodpecker, Swallow, Wren, Robin, Blackbird, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Long-tailed tit, Blue tit, Great tit, Jay, Magpie, Jackdaw, Rook, Carrion Crow, Starling & Chaffinch.
