Ibsley Water - Blashford Lakes

Wednesday 8th May, on my way home from Bournemouth, I dropped into Ibsley Water (Blashford Lakes) to look for the reported Adult SP Black Tern. Went into the hide and the first thing I noticed was the large mixed flock of Swift, Swallow, Sand Martin & House Martin feeding over the lake. Started going through the terns all common, and I was just about to leave when the Black Tern flew past the hide, so I watched it until a warden came to lock up the hide and car park gate.

Good Friday down at West Wittering West Sussex

Today Tracey and I took the dogs (Charlie, Thomas, Polly & Reg) down to West Wittering.
I took my binoculars with me, and added to my year list, Sanderling, a small flock on East Head. Further round on our walk when we passed Snow Hill I saw a Greenshank, then on our return to the car park next to the road was a wet wooded area, I was looking at a Moorhen, when Tracey said what's that little bird, it was a Water Rail right out in the open giving great views. We then went to The Ship Inn Itchenor (http://www.theshipinnitchenor.co.uk/) for a lovely dinner and some local ale.
